Complete and Partial Dentures in Anaheim Hills, CA

Dentures are detachable prosthetics for people who have problems with teeth missing. When we talk about complete dentures, we are describing prostheses used when all of your teeth are absent. Partial dentures, but on the other end, are used when some natural teeth remain intact.

What Are Complete Dentures?

When it comes to complete dentures, you could split them into two main categories: immediate and conventional. When the injured teeth have already been removed entirely, this treatment is performed. Your gum tissue must also be allowed to recover fully before the conventional complete denture treatment can begin.

Full mouth extraction for complete dentures or complete overdentures is another name for this procedure. The procedure for obtaining a full denture takes approximately 12 weeks after teeth have been extracted.

The process begins with getting a precise imprint of the teeth to create the appropriate diagnostic castings. Then, wax rims are placed in the mouth to ensure that the bite is correct.

Then, the teeth are extracted under topical or local anesthesia. Wherever necessary, sutures are applied, and subsequent dentures are implanted in the mouth. The patient is contacted again within 24 to 48 hours for any small modifications that may be required.

The sutures are removed within 10 to 14 days after the extractions and placement of immediate dentures, and the permanent denture is placed. Any sore spots are eliminated at this time as well.

What Are Partial Dentures?

Partial dentures are removable dentures that look very natural. They aid in the restoration of jaw function and form by replacing a single tooth or multiple lost teeth.

Depending on how the procedure is performed, as well as the materials used, there are different types of removable partial dentures. A high-quality molded plastic, acrylic, or a combination of acrylic and metal is often used. As far as talking and chewing are concerned, this goes a long way towards restoring both.

While acrylic partial dentures are inexpensive, they fall short in terms of quality and lifespan. This type of denture should only be used if your orthodontist advises it. Before getting partial or total dentures, we strongly advise our users to make sure they grasp the differences between the two.
