Dental emergencies can be a bit terrifying, especially if you’re not sure what to do. This is why our Randy Cockrell, DDS Family & Cosmetic Dentistry dental team would like to tell you how to deal with them. Today, we would like to tell you about how to deal with a chipped tooth. No matter what you do, it’s best to keep a cool head and stay calm. Then, carefully take the steps needed to improve the situation.

The first thing you should do is call our office at 714-974-0949 and schedule an emergency appointment as soon as possible. The sooner you see Dr. Randy Cockrell, the better. One way you can improve the success of your treatment when you come into our office is to bring the pieces of your tooth with you. This means you need to save the pieces of your tooth and keep them in a safe place until your appointment.

The second thing you should do is stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling. In order to stop the bleeding, place a gauze pad on the area and apply gentle pressure. Do this until the pad fills with blood. Once this happens, replace the dirty pad with a clean pad and repeat this process. In order to reduce swelling, ice outside the injured area with an ice pack or cold compress in 15-minute intervals.

If you do these things, you’ll be on the right track toward treating your chipped tooth in Anaheim Hills, California. If you have any questions about our tips or if you would like to learn more, please call our office at 714-974-0949 at your earliest convenience. Our dental team has the answers, details, and information you’re looking for, and we look forward to helping you!
